Sometimes a journey goes quiet, not because the story has ended, but because life demands full attention elsewhere.
Over the past months, my energy has been focused on finishing my PhD: refining chapters, resolving comments, checking details, and bringing together years of work on plant genomics, genome size evolution, and the evolutionary history of the Proteaceae family. It has been an intense and meaningful period, but it also pulled me away from this website.
Now I am returning to it.
Why this website matters to me
When I first started The Soni Saga, I did not want it to be just another online profile or static portfolio. I wanted it to be a living space where I could document ideas, reflect on my journey, and connect science with the broader questions that shape our lives and future.
Research papers often show only the polished outcome. They rarely capture the uncertainty, patience, false starts, persistence, and personal growth behind the work. This website gives me space to share that side of the journey more honestly.
The PhD chapter
My PhD has been more than a research degree. It has been a long chapter of learning how to think more deeply, work more carefully, and ask better questions.
Through this work, I explored genomic variation across the Proteaceae, developed genomic resources for endangered plants, and examined how genome size and evolutionary history can reveal broader biological patterns. The work was technical, demanding, and at times exhausting, but it was also deeply rewarding.
As this chapter approaches completion, I find myself thinking not only about what I have finished, but also about what comes next.
What comes next
I want this website to grow with me.
That means writing not only about research, but also about the wider world around it: biodiversity, agriculture, conservation, innovation, scientific careers, and the role of knowledge in creating real-world impact.
The next stage of The Soni Saga is not just about looking back. It is about carrying forward what I have learned and using this space to explore new ideas, new directions, and new possibilities.
Continuing the saga
So this post is a simple restart.
A reminder to myself that meaningful work does not always move in a straight line, and that stepping away for a while does not mean the story is over.
